Florida Governor Symptoms $3-Billion Seminole Tribe Gaming Compact

Late on Monday, Florida Gov. Rick Scott fundamentally finalized a 20-year gambling compact with the Seminole Tribe that would change the 5-year the one that expired on July 31. The announcement in regards to the agreement came after months of negotiations between the interested parties.

The Seminole Tribe and its seven gambling venues across Florida would contribute almost $3 billion to the state’s coffers within the first seven years under the terms of the new compact. The new agreement also enables their state Legislature to start talking about the addition of slot parlors at current pari-mutuel businesses in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties. Gov. Scott said in a Monday letter to Senate President Andy Gardiner and House Speaker Steve Crisafulli that the additional revenue of $3 billion while the limit regarding the gambling choices made available from the tribes can put the fundamentals of a ‘stable and gambling that is predictable’ within Florida’s borders.
